A Playful Painting Workshop
In this 2-hour video workshop (recorded live), we dive into color—intuitive, expressive, playful.
I’ll share pages from my sketchbooks, talk about how I gather inspiration, and guide you through a full mixed-media painting, step by step. You’ll get to see everything unfold in real time, from that first uncertain mark to the final touches.
I’ll be working with a black water-soluble pencil, watercolors, and high-flow acrylics—but you’re welcome to use whatever supplies you love.
📜 After you register, you’ll receive the full replay along with my art supply list, a simple shape template, and inspiration images to help you follow along or return to the process whenever it calls you.

It always starts the same way: I open my sketchbook, brush in hand, with no plan and no expectations. Just movement. A scribble, a swirl, a meandering line. And then something shifts. The noise quiets, space opens up, and for a moment, I can hear myself again.
This is why we make things. Not for the outcome, not because we have it all figured out, but because the act of creating is enough. It brings us back to ourselves.
I’ll share the full process—including trial and error—so you can witness how a piece evolves and learn to trust your own creative voice.
Let’s make something beautiful together.
Happy painting!

WHAT DO STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY?
“Juliette was wonderful at answering my questions right away. She gave me great tips for the times when I was feeling stuck, to move forward.” - Christy Nimehy
“I have a long way to go until I am working as completely from my soul as Juliette works, but I am finally on that path.” - Tana Lopez Younger
"My tendency used to be to rip out the page and wad it up. Because of you, I am learning to not be so harsh on myself… to just keep building layers and see what emerges!" -JaneAnn Harper
"Juliette does a great job of breaking down the elements so anyone can follow and create art they can be proud of. Once I saw the creative process broken down and how it morphs or changes I felt much more at ease." -Julie Brastad
“Playing with new materials and exploring different styles and techniques is such a nice way to switch things up when I need a little creative boost.” -Steph Joy Hogan

ABOUT JULIETTE
I’m Juliette Crane, founder of The School of Happy Painting—online classes to help you loosen up, find your unique style, and connect to your heart through creativity.
Painting has always been a healing process for me. With over 15 years of experience as a professional artist, I’m passionate about sharing what’s helped me, in the hope that it encourages and supports you on your creative path.
Art was what I loved most as a child and in high school. But after college, I felt like creativity didn’t matter. I stopped painting for over a decade and worked as an editorial assistant at a newspaper, occasionally writing gallery features and music reviews.
It took many winding paths—photographer, gallery assistant, floral designer—before I realized the one thing I could truly pour my heart into was being a full-time artist.
